Re: It's Time

Hi Paul, I'm glad you received good results from your medical check up. While I have never tried hypnosis to overcome my paruresis, the IPA website seems to indicate that it will be little or no help, sorry. The best method seems to be Graduated Exposure practice combined with some CBT from a psycho...

Re: It's Time

Hi Paul, I like you had paruresis for over 40 years before I found out the name for it. It is good that you have told your wife and are being checked out medically before you start in recovery. As a beginning I suggest you read 'Shy Bladder Syndrome' by Steven Soifer ( it may be available from your ...

Re: Plane flight to Europe

Hi Chris, the only way i could fly before I started down the recovery road was to make sure that I went to a toilet in the plane where there were more than one. ie on 747's and A340 ther are groups of four toilets together. I would have to sit down and I used a deep breathing relaxation technique th...

Re: List of good toilets for exposure practice

Travelling Again out West... Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo. I was pleased to find that the toilets at the main entrance-cafe-ticket area had 3 urinal bowls with full length dividers. Quite a modern large room with 4 cubicles as well. Quite a busy area but no worries here... It's great to be able to tr...

Re: The space-time continuum...

Hi Tim,

Well done. This is a very encouraging post on your practice session.

I found that to go into toilets that I had previously avoided was good therapy. Sometimes just to explore and wash hands etc.. You have done well...

Keep up the good work..

Ross.

Re: New member

Hi , Welcome to the PAA Chat forum. as someone else with an enlarged prostate causing slow flow and dribbling at the end, I would recommend you get along and see a urologist asap. Re: List of good toilets for exposure practice

The Sydney Support Group has found that the toilets in the new/refurbished Westfield building at Sydney Tower, are well laid our and have almost full length dividers between their urinal bowls. These toilets were very busy at last Thursdays practice session, and apart from us getting lost finding ou...
